Before the 2024 season officially commenced, Tir Conaill Harps found themselves thrust into action. With the Intermediate final rescheduled and the Junior final slated for a replay, it was a whirlwind weekend for the team.

On what was arguably the most glorious day of the year so far weather wise, Tir Conaill Harps began their day with the Intermediate Championship Final against Dalriada. Having already triumphed over Dalriada in the closely contested league final, Tir Conaill Harps sought to secure a double at the Intermediate level.

Although Dalriada took an early lead with the first two scores, Tir Conaill Harps swiftly found their footing, responding with a goal and a point of their own. The first half unfolded in a tight contest, with both teams remaining neck and neck on the scoreboard. However, Tir Conaill Harps managed to enter halftime with a two-point lead.

In the second half, the Harps extended their lead to five points with an early goal. Yet, Dalriada fought back once again, narrowing the gap with several points and a goal. Tir Conaill Harps maintained a slender lead until Dalriada surged ahead with two goals and a point, seizing momentum with less than ten minutes remaining. However, Tir Conaill Harps rallied, equalizing with a fourth goal and then, with two minutes left, securing the winning goal to clinch victory.

Final Score:

Tir Conaill Harps – 5-06

Dalriada – 4-06

Following the intense Intermediate match, Tir Conaill Harps faced Glasgow Gaels in the replayed Junior Championship Final. Despite their efforts, the Junior team faced disappointment on the scoreboard. It was unfortunate that it was deemed fit to host both games on the same day one after another which meant the requirement of some players doubling up from the Intermediate game, and as a result fatigue played a factor against the strong Glasgow Gaels side.

Nevertheless, Tir Conaill Harps remained undeterred, immediately shifting focus to preparations for the upcoming 2024 Intermediate and Junior league campaign, set to begin in less than two weeks.
