It's been a busy month for Tir Conaill Harps with the return to competitive action for the clubs Men's teams.
The Junior Men's team kicked off in the league with a 3-12 to 0-06 home win over Sands MacSwineys on 20th April, the Intermediate Men's team followed this up with an away win at Dunedin Connollys, winning by a point, 1-07 to 0-09. The Ladies team continue their pre season training ahead of their season opener on 14th May, against Dalriada in Aberdeen. The ladies team visited the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie for the crucial Glasgow Derby SWPL match between Celtic and Rangers, the ladies team keen to support all female sports in Scotland.
On the 22nd April the club hosted a British Regional Blitz tournament, which included a mixed U9's, boys U13's and Girls U14s. We also welcomed Elphin GAA from Roscommon to officially open our new Gaelic pitch at Cambuslang, Elphin are now the home of former Harp player, Aidan Main. In what was a well attended day, with good feedback from clubs who attended, the highlight was the club's U13's Boys team winning the cup. The U13's also won all four games they played in at a Blitz in Edinburgh. The U11's continued their great start to 2023 when they participated and won both games in an U11 blitz in Clydebank, taking on Glasgow Gaels and Dunedin Og.
After the Intermediate Men's and Boys U13 success in Edinburgh, the club held it's annual race night fundraiser at our clubhouse, the occasion helped raise some funds for the club to include trips for underage teams to play in Manchester and Louth. An award ceremony was also held with Konstantinos Athanasiadis picking up volunteer of the year and Christina Duffy winning the Hall of Fame award. Both have been integral parts of the club and we wouldn't be where we are today without the help of those two and all the volunteers involved in running the club.
The club will be sending down several underage teams to take part in the Northern Games in Manchester on 27th May in what should be a great occasion for all involved.
