Glasgow GAA - Harps Resume Training.jpeg

Last week saw Tir Conaill Harps adult teams returned to training for the first time this year. With the youth teams having been back for a couple of weeks it was time for the adults to finally look out the football boots, tie the laces and get back out onto the grass pitch. 2020 was a year of hardship for many. Within the Scottish GAA fraternity they miraculously managed to get the season underway  late on in the year only for covid restrictions to hit hard for a second time and curtail the season with only a couple of games left to play. With so much hard work put it by all clubs and teams it was a cruel way to end the season without any silverware having been handed out.

So with the 2021 season looming the harps players where itching to get back out and kick some balls. The men’s intermediate and junior sides have been training hard to brush off any cobwebs built up through the winter months, and with pre season zoom fitness classes and now full training having been resumed excitement is slowly building up with the prospect of the new seasons fixtures.

One of the major milestones for Tir Conaill Harps this year is the introduction of the ladies team. The club had hoped to introduce this last year but unfortunately Covid had curbed any real chance of this coming to fruition.  However, the club worked hard behind the scenes to put the necessary infrastructure in place to make it a reality for the 2021 season. With the girls having already had a number of sessions under their belts under the stewardship of the management team Paul Doogan, Kevin Maher and Aiden Main the new ladies team are raring to go get stuck in on this monumental of seasons.
