

Dunedin Connollys emerged victorious over Tir Conaill Harps in a hard-fought and at times controversial encounter, finishing strongly to secure a five-point win.
The game began in cagey fashion, with both sides trading early scores. Tir Conaill Harps took the lead through a well-taken free from Phil Lambert, but Connollys responded with three unanswered points to edge ahead. Their strong finish to the half saw them take a two-point advantage into the break.
Tir Conaill Harps started the second half brightly and were unfortunate not to find the net early on, seeing a gilt-edged chance go wide. They soon reduced the deficit when a close-range free was converted, and with Connollys temporarily reduced to 14 players following a black card, Harps capitalised by winning the kick-out and working the ball forward for a well-earned equaliser.
However, the momentum quickly swung back in Connollys’ favour. A defensive lapse allowed them to break through and finish clinically to put the ball in the back of the net for the game’s only goal. While Harps remained firmly in contention, their challenge was dealt a major blow when Aedan Kerr, already on a yellow card, was dismissed following a second booking for dissent.
Connollys took full advantage of the extra man, adding another point to stretch their lead to four. Matters worsened for Harps when a second player Ethan Friel was shown a straight red card in a contentious decision, leaving them with an uphill battle. Despite their numerical disadvantage, Harps continued to battle and reduced the gap to three points with a well-taken free.
In the closing stages, however, Connollys asserted their quality, adding the final two points of the game to seal the win.
While the result was disappointing, Tir Conaill Harps took great pride from a committed performance against a strong Connollys side.

Tir Conaill Harps suffered defeat in Round 3 as they hosted Glasgow Gaels in their first home game of the campaign.
It was the visitors who made the brighter start, with Glasgow Gaels racing into an early lead by registering the opening two points before finding the net to put real daylight between the sides. Harps struggled to gain a foothold in the opening period, and when Gaels added another score, the gap had stretched to six points.
Tir Conaill Harps eventually opened their account, but Glasgow Gaels continued to dominate proceedings and carried a commanding 11 point lead into the break.
The second half saw an improved showing from Harps, who competed more effectively and managed to limit the visitors’ scoring for periods. However, the damage inflicted in the first half proved too much to overcome.
Glasgow Gaels maintained control to the final whistle, running out comfortable winners.

Tir Conaill Harps made the trip across the city to face Glasgow Gaels’ Intermediate side and produced a strong second-half display to secure a deserved victory.
The game took time to find its rhythm, with Harps creating early chances but failing to convert, sending a number of efforts uncharacteristically wide. It was Glasgow Gaels who eventually opened the scoring around the 10-minute mark, edging in front in a slow-starting contest.
Harps began to settle and found some momentum, kicking two points to square the game before Gaels responded to go back in front. The turning point of the half came on 20 minutes when Tir Conaill Harps were awarded a penalty. Phil Lambert stepped up and calmly converted, giving Harps the lead for the first time. They built on that momentum with a couple of well-taken points to head into the break in control with a 4 point lead.
The second half began with both sides trading scores, but it was Harps who soon took command. A dominant spell saw them register five unanswered points, putting clear daylight between the teams. Conor McCormick was a standout contributor, notably converting an excellent two-point free, while Aaron Conlan opted for the assured point late on when a goal opportunity arose.
A superb all-round team performance, driven by Man of the Match Patrick Brady, ensured Tir Conaill Harps maintained their advantage to the final whistle and secured a well-earned two points.

Tir Conaill Harps produced a dominant display in Round 5 of the league, overcoming Stirling Carrigans with a comprehensive victory on a glorious evening in Cambuslang.
Harps made a blistering start to the game, with Ethan Friel opening the scoring after a brilliant mazy run through the Carrigans defence. Just a minute later, Matthew Maginn added another point to set the early tone. The hosts continued to impress, and on 12 minutes Connaire Shannon curled over an excellent score from a tight angle on the right-hand side.
A goal nearly followed soon after when Darren Collins broke through on goal, but his effort was superbly denied by the Carrigans goalkeeper. By the 15-minute mark, Harps had established a five-point lead while keeping their opponents scoreless. Carrigans eventually opened their account from a free after a lapse in discipline from Harps, and they added another soon after to reduce the gap to three.
However, Tir Conaill Harps quickly regained control, adding further points to stretch the lead once more. The decisive moment of the half came 10 minutes before the break when Darren Collins embarked on another dazzling run, this time finishing confidently to the net to push the advantage out to eight points. A couple more scores before half-time left Harps firmly in command with a ten-point cushion.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Harps picking up where they left off. Conor McCormick was particularly influential, landing two excellent long-range efforts from just inside the two-point arc. While Stirling Carrigans added a handful of scores, they were never able to seriously threaten the Harps lead.

Tir Conaill Harps booked their place in the league final after a dramatic and hard-fought victory over a strong Dunedin Connollys Intermediate side.

Harps responded immediately, with Kieran Turner opening their account before Phil Lambert levelled matters from a free. Eoin O’Doherty then edged Harps in front on five minutes, though Connollys quickly brought the sides level once again.
The game began to swing in Harps’ favour when Connaire Shannon calmly finished to the net for the first goal of the contest, opening up a three-point gap. Conor McCormick added to the lead with a well-taken point, and the advantage grew further when Ethan Friel was fouled in the box, allowing Phil Lambert to convert from the penalty spot on 15 minutes.
Connollys fought back with three unanswered points, but Harps struck another crucial blow before half-time. Phil Lambert was upended by the Connollys goalkeeper when through on goal, earning a second penalty, which he confidently dispatched to leave Harps four points clear at the break.
Harps started the second half in similar fashion to Connollys’ fast start in the first, with Conor McCormick landing an excellent two-pointer to extend the lead to six. A quieter spell followed before Connollys reduced the deficit, only for Phil Lambert to respond with another free to restore the six-point cushion.
With ten minutes remaining, Connollys launched a determined comeback, throwing everything at the Harps defence. Their persistence paid off as they struck two goals either side of a few scores over the bar, bringing the sides back to within a single point and forcing the game into a tense finale.
With the match hanging in the balance, Harps produced a decisive moment of quality. Matthew Maginn surged into the box and unselfishly squared the ball across goal for the onrushing Kieran Turner, who fisted the ball into the back of the net to seal the win.
In a thrilling encounter, Tir Conaill Harps held their nerve to secure a memorable victory and confirm their place in the Intermediate final.

Tir Conaill Harps Ladies have been back in action in the Junior League, showing plenty of promise and determination as the season progresses.
First up was a difficult away trip to face Dalriada, a fixture that is always expected to provide a stern test. With several new faces joining the squad this season, there was understandable curiosity around how the team would gel. Any doubts were quickly put to bed as Harps produced an impressive display, with players combining seamlessly and showing great understanding across the pitch.
Harps led for large periods of the contest and demonstrated tremendous heart, grit and commitment throughout. However, the experience of the home side ultimately proved decisive, with Dalriada edging a closely fought encounter by three points. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives for the Harps management team to take from a spirited performance.

The ladies were back next with another away trip, this time against league newcomers Stirling Carrigans. Determined to build on the encouraging signs shown against Dalriada, Harps produced a superb all-round display.
The improvement within the squad was clear to see, with confidence growing throughout the team. Harps delivered an emphatic performance that was reflected on the scoreboard, recording an impressive 11-point victory. It was a statement result that showed this side is not in the league simply to make up the numbers — they are here to compete and challenge.

In the final group game of the league Tir Conaill Harps produced a battling display but were ultimately defeated by a clinical Dunedin Connollys side in an entertaining encounter that saw both teams play some excellent attacking football.
The Harps got off to a positive start when Erin McGrory opened the scoring after five minutes. Connollys responded with three unanswered points to move ahead, but the Harps fought back through the impressive Grace Tighe, who struck twice, before Lara Jo Tuite added another point to edge the Glasgow side back in front.
The visitors then enjoyed a strong spell, registering a goal and three points in quick succession to seize control of the contest. Aoife Bradley kept the Harps in touch with a well-taken point, but a second Connollys goal stretched the lead further.
Tir Conaill Harps refused to let the game get away from them. Grace Tighe added another point before the Harps found the net in the 26th minute to close the gap. Tighe was unlucky not to add a second goal moments later when a superb effort crashed back off the post. However, Connollys struck for a third goal just before the break to take a 3-06 to 1-06 advantage into half-time.
The second half began with another Connollys point, but the Harps responded brilliantly. A goal in the 34th minute reignited hopes before Grace Tighe and Orla Bradley both found the net in a devastating two-minute spell. Suddenly the Harps were right back in the contest and putting Connollys under real pressure.
Connollys showed their quality, however, adding another goal and several points to steady themselves. The Harps continued to push forward, with Orla Bradley adding two excellent points, while Erin McGrory was desperately unlucky not to raise another green flag when her effort rattled the post with eight minutes remaining.
Despite the Harps' determination and attacking threat throughout, Connollys' efficiency in front of goal proved decisive. Two late goals in the closing stages put the result beyond doubt and secured victory for the visitors. The result now ensures that Tir Conaill Harps ill now take on Stirling Carrigans in the Ladies Junior League Shield Final.
There were several standout performances for Tir Conaill Harps. Grace Tighe was outstanding, contributing 1-04 and constantly troubling the Connollys defence, while Orla Bradley finished with 1-02 and Aoife Bradley, Erin McGrory and Lara Jo Tuite all added important scores. The Harps also created a number of excellent goal opportunities and can take plenty of positives from an energetic and committed team performance.

Special recognition must go to the new players who have joined the panel this season and integrated seamlessly into the squad, as well as the players from Coatbridge Davitts who have made a valuable contribution to the team's progress.
With one league fixture remaining against Dunedin Connollys, Harps will be eager to carry their positive momentum forward and finish the campaign on a high.
